An associate degree in elementary education prepares students to take advantage of the growing teacher shortages in this state. Students complete their program in approximately two years. This program serves as the pre-professional block, required to be completed before applying to a School of Education. Graduates can choose to enter the workforce immediately as paraprofessionals or substitutes within local school systems or pursue a bachelor's degree in education or a related field. Since an associate degree may not satisfy the requirements for teaching licensure in public schools, many graduates use the degree as a stepping-stone to further education.

Program Specific Requirements

    • Students must submit a Criminal Background Check and be approved.
    • Students must also have liability insurance through PAGE (instructions issued by the Program Coordinator) prior to placement in a school system for the required field experience (Each EDUC course requires 20 hours of field experience.)
