On October 7, 2025, ³Ô¹ÏÖ±²¥ (EGSC) will host their annual Honey Extraction Party from 4 – 6 p.m. in the Luck F. Gambrell Center Rotunda. This event, hosted by the Bobcat Beekeeping Club, will help the community learn more about honey, how it is made by honeybees, and how it is collected by beekeepers and bottled for everyone to enjoy.
Honey will be extracted and bottled from EGSC’s award-winning Bobcat Apiary, and an educational display featuring a small contingent of the Apiary’s busy workers will be on hand to fuel interest in pollinator protection. Visitors of the event will be able to assist in uncapping, spinning, and bottling honey, and will have an opportunity to take home a jar of their own at the end of the event.
The event is part of EGSC’s continued efforts as a Bee Campus USA to promote honeybee and pollinator protection education to students, staff, faculty and the community. The college was named a Bee Campus in 2016. To learn more about EGSC’s Bobcat Apiary or to watch the bees at work, visit www.ega.edu/bobcat-apiary.
